1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using FundMyUniverse ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Platform Description

FundMyUniverse is a trust-first crowdfunding platform designed for real people helping real people. Unlike traditional crowdfunding sites, we mandate rigorous verification for all campaign organizers to ensure the integrity of our community.

3. User Accounts and Verification

To create a campaign, users must register for an account and successfully complete our verification process. Campaigns remain in a "Pending" state and cannot accept funds until this process is completed. We reserve the right to reject any verification attempt or suspend accounts suspected of fraud.

4. Campaign Creation Rules

Campaign organizers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their campaign descriptions. Funds raised must be used explicitly for the purpose stated in the campaign. Misrepresentation of facts, medical conditions, or financial needs is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination and potential legal action.

5. Donation Policy

Donations are generally non-refundable. FundMyUniverse charges a transparent 5% community fee, added on top of each donation, so the campaign always receives 100% of the amount pledged. This fee covers payment processing, manual verification reviews, and platform maintenance. Organizers only pay standard Stripe processing costs on funds received. We believe in "everybody helping everybody," and this fee ensures our grassroots platform remains sustainable and free of hidden costs.

6. The Overflowing Cup Terms

FundMyUniverse features The Overflowing Cup, a unique mechanism designed to maximize community impact.

  • Eligibility: The Overflowing Cup applies only to goaled campaigns in the Fundraisers and Crisis & Emergency categories. When a campaign exceeds its stated goal, a tiny portion of the surplus flows forward automatically.
  • Automatic Redirect: When an eligible campaign exceeds its goal, the overflow percentage is automatically redistributed — no additional action is required from the organizer or the donor.
  • Redirection Execution: Redirected funds flow exclusively to verified active campaigns in the same category that have not yet met their goals.
  • Auditing: FundMyUniverse reserves the right to audit and temporarily pause redistribution flows to ensure fair allocation.

7. Prohibited Content

Users may not create campaigns for: illegal activities, weapons, violence, hate speech, explicit content, financial speculation, or any purpose that violates local, state, or federal laws.

8. Refund Policy

While donations are final, FundMyUniverse will issue full refunds to donors in the event that a campaign is determined to be fraudulent by our Trust & Safety team. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which FundMyUniverse operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
